Members Equipment List

 

The following equipment list is commonly compiled to form what is referred to as a "24 Hour Ready Pack". Some items may be carried on a belt, in pockets or strapped to the person. This is the minimum equipment recommended to be carried on all missions.

Recommendation: Acquire and store most items from the list in a duffle bag for rapid deployment. Field items can be chosen from the duffle bag and carried in your fanny pack or back pack.

 

1.       Compass (Non - Military)

2.    Wind/Waterproof Jacket with hood. (Red preferred)

3.    Helmet with chinstrap

4.    1 Knife

5.     1 Rain gear.

6.    2 spare T-Shirts

7.    2 spare underwear

8.    2 spare outerwear.  (Polyester Fleece or Wool preferred)

9.    2 pair Thermal Underwear.  (Polypropylene preferred)

10.  2 pair wool socks

11.  Personal First Aid/Survival Kit. ----------------------1 Ziploc (qt. size) plastic bag for kit, 2 pair Latex examination gloves, 4 aspirin, 4 antacid tablets, 2 antiseptic wipes, 1  antiseptic ointment, 6 band aids various sizes, 2 cotton swaps, 1 moleskin, 1 roller gauze, 2 safety pins, 1 tweezers,  2 towelettes, 1 space blanket, 25mg Benadryl Tablets, 1 single edge razor blade, 1 long burning candle, 4 quarters, 1 lip balm, 1 EMT shears,  5’-10’ duct tape,  1 wire 5-10’ long, 3 heavy duty construction bags, 1 shelter material or 8 x 10 tarp

12.  1 pair Leather Hiking Boots  

13.  1 pair Safety Boots.  (Steel Toe)

14.  Weatherproof matches or fire starter

15.  Whistle

16.  1 Water Purification Tablets

17.  Headlamp or Flashlight (Spare batteries & bulb).

18.  Second Light Source (Spare batteries & bulb).

19.  Personal prescription medications.

20.  1 Metal Cup, Canteen Cup or Collapsible Cup

21.  Toiletries Kit:  Soap, shampoo, wash cloth, towel, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant, razors, toilet paper, etc.

22.  Sunscreen

23.  Insect repellent

24.  Sunglasses

25.  Signal Mirror

26.  Sleeping bag

27.   2 pair leatherwork Gloves

28.  Drivers license & SAR Personnel ID Tags

29.  Canteen or Water Bottle.  (2 liters minimum)

30.  Food for 48 Hours.  (2 Freeze Dried Meals, 2 MRE's, etc.)

31.  2 Rolls Surveyor/Flagging Tape.  (1 - Red, 1 - Orange).

32.  Pocket Notebook and Pencil

33.  Blaze Orange Outer Vest

34.  1 Baseball type cap

35.  1 Tracking Stick 42” long

36.  Safety Glasses or Goggles with side protection

37.  1 Watch

38.  50' Nylon Cord

39.  2 pair Hearing Protection

40.  1 Measuring Device…18” minimum

This equipment list meets or exceeds the DCNR FTM/FTL and NASAR SARTECH II requirements.

NOTE: Personal equipment is inspected annually!
