Grid searching ensures that no areas are left unsearched because of thorough search using smaller grids. It ensures that two different searchers examine the same area, increasing the chances of finding the subject or all relevant evidence. It can be adapted to various environments, including large outdoor scenes and indoor locations. Grid searching allows for better organization and coordination among investigators during the search process.
Managing Search Operations
Goal of this course is to familiarize the student with Search and Rescue operations management skills to manage operations and provide organization to the search incident. This course is presented in classroom setting to teach search operation techniques and organizational skills to the units responding to a lost person incident. The class uses a combination of lecture, demonstration and table top map exercises to teach the material.
